David Mills
10/02/21 It is with great sadness that we have to announce the loss of our friend David, much-loved member of the group since it began in 2013. We will miss his beautiful drawing, his dry humour, his openess to trying new things, and his kindness to all. Goodbye David.
David's art journey
David had never drawn or painted, or even been interested in art before coming to the group. He had never really visited an art gallery before. In fact, once when we had arranged to meet in the National Gallery, he said, 'don't wait for me, I'll come in and find you!' expecting a small gallery with one room. He was astonished to discover this enormous gallery in the centre of London!
Over the years David really developed as an artist. He had a real gift, and grew in confidence over time, which you can see reflected in his work.
Once David started drawing, he would become completely absorbed, drawing non-stop of 3 hours straight, and produce the most delicate and beautiful drawings. He loved to experiment, and was always moved and inspired by the great art we saw on our trips. You can see a small selection of his work below.
